Awards and HonorsAssoc. Prof. Didem Unat from the Department of Computer Engineering has been recognized as one of the recipients of the 2021 Young Scientist Award from Bilim Kahramanları Foundation. This award program is for young scientists under the age of 38 who have contributed to the sciences and engineering fields. As the first person to receive ACM SigHPC Emerging Woman Leader in Technical Computing outside of the United States and the very first recipient of a prestigious European Research Council grant in computer science in Turkey, Assoc. Prof. Didem Unat is one of the leading experts in high performance computing. The award from Bilim Kahramanları Foundation is the recognition of Assoc. Prof. Didem Unat’s outstanding contributions to the Supercomputing community and achievements in developing algorithms and programming models for Supercomputers to facilitate parallel programming, save energy and increase the performance of the software. She is also known for designing programming models, performance tools, and runtime systems for emerging parallel architectures.
