Overview

Prof. Ayişe Karadağ completed her undergraduate studies at Hacettepe University School of Nursing, graduating at the top of her class in 1992. She went on to earn her master's degree in 1994 and her doctorate in 1999, both in nursing from Hacettepe University Institute of Health Sciences, with a specialization in Fundamentals of Nursing. Her professional experience includes roles as an Intensive Care Nurse and In-Service Training Nurse at Türkiye Yüksek İhtisas Hospital from 1988 to 1993. Following this, she pursued an academic career, serving as a Research Assistant at Hacettepe University from 1993 to 2000, and subsequently as a Lecturer at Gazi University from 2000 to 2015. Since 2015, she has been contributing to the academic environment at Koç University, where she currently holds the position of Dean of the School of Nursing, a role she has held since 2017.

Prof. Karadağ has also taken on various administrative responsibilities throughout her academic journey. Prof. Karadağ has made significant contributions to pre-graduate and post-graduate nursing education, particularly in specialty nursing. She completed the Wound Ostomy Continence Nursing (WOCN) Certified Training Program at the R. B. Turnbull Jr. School of WOCN Program at Cleveland Clinic. She was involved in establishing the first stomatherapy unit in Turkey at Gazi University Faculty of Medicine Hospital in 2000 and initiated the Stoma and Wound Care Nursing Certified Training Program in 2001 in collaboration with the Ministry of Health of Turkey. Since 2018, she has led the Certified Training Program at Koç University Semahat Arsel Nursing Education and Research Center (SANERC). Additionally, she organises Wound Care Courses at various levels within SANERC and for healthcare professionals working in the field of wound care. Prof. Karadağ has numerous articles published in international and national peer-reviewed journals, as well as in proceedings, books, consensus documents, projects, and academic studies. She has also served as a chairperson, scientific committee member, and invited speaker at national and international congresses and symposiums, establishing herself as an opinion leader in chronic wound management.
