Awards and HonorsProf. Seda Keskin Avcı from the Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering, who was the first women researcher from Türkiye to receive ERC Starting Grant in the field of engineering with her project “COSMOS: Computational Simulations of MOFs for Gas Separations” in 2017, was awarded a €2 Million ERC Consolidator Grant this time with her project “STARLET – Atomistic Modeling of Advanced Porous Materials for Energy, Environmental and Biomedical Applications.” STARLET supported by the TÜBİTAK ERC Principal Investigator Development Programme is the first project from Türkiye to receive Consolidator Support in the field of process engineering (PE8).

Asst. Prof. Fatma Güney Awarded ERC Starting Grant for Research Project “ENSURE”
We are thrilled to announce that Asst. Prof. Fatma Güney, who continues her research at KUIS AI Center and is a faculty member in Computer Engineer at Koç University, has been awarded a Starting Grant by the European Research Council (ERC), one of Europe’s most prestigious scientific research grants, with her project titled “ENSURE: ENabling Self-Driving in Uncertain Real Environments”. In ENSURE, Dr. Güney aims to anticipate uncertain scenarios that autonomous vehicles may encounter in future and take it into account while taking an action.
